Recycling/Waste Management

Cr Bill Stewart has either initiated or supported the introduction of a new ‘Recycling/Waste Management System’ with the support of Council – refer below.

Project

The introduction of the new ‘Recycling/Waste Management’ system was a direct response to the closure of the Atlas Recycling Plant.

The system provides the following service to Ratepayers at a service charge of $315.98 (Domestic Waste Collection Charge). The features are:

  • Three bin system as recommended by the ‘State Waste Authority’ – an increase in capacity of 380 litres per household or 61% more capacity when compared to the single bin method.
  • Bins purchased from cash reserves – no cost recovery charge to Ratepayers.
  • Two bulk green waste collections every 18 months.
  • One skip bin included in the charge.
  • On demand collection of 1 x mattresses, E-waste and Whitegoods.
  • Tip vouchers (3) to the recycling Centre.
  • Partners – ‘State Government Waste Authority’, ‘Perth Waste’ ‘MRC’ & ‘Suez’.
  • Target of 65% diversion from landfill by 2020.
